Why Mirrhia developed its calibration module
In any controlled environment, cleanrooms, laboratories, or pharmaceutical facilities, the reliability of environmental data depends on a simple reality: a sensor is only as trustworthy as its calibration.
To support this critical requirement, Mirrhia has developed an integrated Calibration Module designed to centralize, document, and secure calibration activities directly within the EMS.
What is the purpose of the Calibration Module?
The Calibration Module allows users to manage the calibration of their probes and sensors directly within Mirrhia, without relying on an external system or manual processes.
It is a simple, integrated tool that centralizes all essential information related to the calibration of measurement instruments.
Why was this module developed?
Because many of our clients already had an internal calibration procedure, but no way to record or trace it in Mirrhia.
As a result, they were losing the continuity of information between environmental measurements and the calibration status of the probe.
The idea was to provide them with a fast, reliable, and integrated way to ensure the monitoring and compliance of their equipment, without unnecessary complexity.
What customer needs does it address?
Mainly:
- Recording and documenting calibrations directly in the system,
- Linking each probe to its calibration status,
- Ensuring the reliability of the data recorded in Mirrhia (avoiding values distorted by a non-calibrated probe),
- Facilitating audits by having a complete history available at any time.
How does a user perform a calibration?
The process is very simple:
- The user places the relevant probes in calibration mode, which prevents alarms from being generated during calibration.
- The user selects the probe(s) to be calibrated in Mirrhia as well as the reference standard probe.
- They enter the key information (environmental data, stability criteria, precision criteria, and the different steps to be performed during the process, etc.).
- Once the calibration is validated, the system allows the probe status to be updated in one click with the new data.
The workflow remains manual but guided, making the module accessible to everyone, even without advanced technical training.
It is important to note that the final data must still be confirmed by an authorised person (metrologist).
What information is tracked or generated?
- Calibration date
- Responsible person and department
- Calibration results
- A calibration certificate
Does the module notify users of upcoming recalibrations?
Yes. The system allows users to define the validity period of the calibration certificate (for example, every 6 or 12 months).
It also allows the definition of a safety period to receive notifications before the certificate expires.
This helps avoid oversights and strengthens control over the equipment fleet.
Calibration history
Each probe has a complete history: the user can consult all past calibrations, their results, the associated certificates, and see how they have evolved over time.
This greatly facilitates audits and regulatory traceability.
Benefits for the user
- Ease of use: everything is handled through the same interface as the other Mirrhia modules.
- Autonomy: no more dependency on external services or paper-based tracking.
- Data confidence: users know that every sensor is compliant and up to date.
- Audit readiness: the complete history is available in one click.
In short: the module does not add complexity, but it brings essential visibility and quality assurance.
Concrete example
A laboratory using Mirrhia Facility was still managing its calibrations in Excel.
After switching to the integrated module, they were able to centralize all calibration records directly in Mirrhia, eliminate double entry, and cut audit preparation time in half, since they can now generate a report directly from the system.
Planned evolutions
In the long term, the idea is to allow integration with external calibration systems (or equipment suppliers), and potentially automatic synchronization of certificates.
However, for now, the module remains intentionally light and simple to ensure robustness and ease of adoption.
